8月4日、南米選手権大会がチリ支部主催のもと盛大に開催された。世界大会予選ブロック大会のトリを飾る本大会にはチリ国内はもとより南米各地から選手が参戦し型・組手部門にてレベルの高いパフォーマンスを披露した。その結果、チリより4名、ボリビアより1名が南米大陸を代表して9月大阪への切符を手にした。
On August 4th, the 1st South American Championships was held in Chile as the final selection event to form a team to represent the region. Over three hundred competitors exhibited their excellence in Kata and Kumite by putting on quality performances. As a result, four members from Chile and one from Bolivia were selected to fight in the World Tournament in September.
