International Karate Organization Nakamura

1977 - 1989

  • 1977 10-  Sosui Makoto Nakamura All-Japan Championships Debut

  • 1978 10-  Sosui Makoto Nakamura 3rd Place at the 10th All-Japan Championships

  • 1979 05-  Sosui Makoto Nakamura 1st Place at the 11th All-Japan Championships

  • 1979 11-  Sosui Makoto Nakamura 1st Place at the 2nd World Tournament (WT)

  • 1980 11-  Sosui Makoto Nakamura 2nd Place at the 12th All-Japan Championships

  • 1981 05-  Sosui appointed the Hyogo Branch Chief by Sosai Mas Oyama

  • 1981 06-  The first Nakamura dojo was established in the city of Ashiya

  • 1981 11-  Sosui Makoto Nakamura 2nd Place at the 13th All-Japan Championships

  • 1982 03-  The first full-time dojo was established in the city of Amagasaki (Currently run by Shihan Osamu Sumitani)

  • 1982 04-  Itami and Takarazuka dojos opened (Currently run by Shihan Yoshitaka Kuroyama)

  • 1983 12-  The first local tournament was held at the Amagasaki dojo

  • 1984 01-  Sosui Makoto Nakamura 1st Place at the 3rd World Tournament

  • 1984 04-  Sosui was appointed the South-Osaka Branch Chief by Sosai Mas Oyama

  • 1984 04-  A Uchideshi, Shihan Yoshitaka Nishiyama 2nd Place at the 1st All-Japan Weight Category Championships (JWCC)

  • 1985 06-  Shihans Yoshitaka Nishiyama and Hidehiko Hashizume 2nd Place in their respective weight category at the 2nd JWCC

  • 1985 09-  Inviting Sosai Mas Oyama, the 1st Hyogo Tournament was held by Sosui Makoto Nakamura

  • 1986 06-  Shihans Takahiro Kajiwara, Hashizume, and Nishiyama conquered all three weight categories at the 3rd JWCC

  • 1986 06-  Nishinomiya Dojo opened (Currently run by Shihan Nobuhiro Hokayashiki)

  • 1987 06-  Shihan Hashizume 2nd Place at the 4th JWCC and selected to compete in the 4th World Tournament

  • 1987 11-  Shihans Hashizume and Nishiyama advanced to the Top 32 in the 4th WT

  • 1988 06-  Shihans Hideki Shibata and Takahiro Kajiwara placed 1st in the middleweight and lightweight respectively at 5th JWCC.

  • 1988 11-  Shihan Hideki Shibata advanced to the top 8 in the 20th All-Japan Championships

1990 - 1999

  • 1990 03-  A total number of dojos exceeded twenty locations

  • 1990 05-  Shihan Tats Nakamura moved to Vancouver, Canada and established a Kyokushin dojo in the city

  • 1991 06-  Shihan Naoyuki Sonoda placed 1st in the 8th JWCC

  • 1991 11-  Shihan Sonoda advanced to the top 32 in the 5th WT

  • 1994 04-  Sosai Mas Oyama passed away

  • 1995 01-  The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake occurred on January 17. It directly hit Kobe and took more than 5000 lives.

  • 1995 03-  The original I.K.O. split into a few different groups. Nakamura Dojo decided to stay with Kancho Matsui's organization. 

  • 1995 11- Shihans Norihisa Horiike and Masanori Takao advanced to the top 16 in the 6th WT

  • 1996 03-  Kawanishi Dojo opened with Shihan Nobuaki Nagai as Head Instructor

  • 1996 05-  Tennoji Dojo opened with Shihan Satoru Kobayashi as Head Instructor

  • 1996 06-  Shihan Masafumi Tagahara won 1st in the 16th JWCC

  • 1996 08-  The Honbu Dojo opened

  • 1996 11-  Shihans Horiike and Takao placed 8th and 4th respectively in the 28 All-Japan Championships

  • 1997 04-  Shihans Horiike, Koji Yasuda, Takao entered the 1st World Weight Category Championships (WWCC)

  • 1997 04-  Shihan Piotr Sawicki placed 1st in the lightweight division at the 1st WWCC

  • 1997 11-  Shihans Horiike and Takao placed 4th and 7th respectively in the 29 All-Japan Championships

  • 1998 04-  Shihans Tagahara, Horiike, Takao entered the World Cup held in Paris

  • 1998 07-  Sosui Nakamura was invited to the Polish summer camp with Shihan Tats Nakamura, Sumitani, Makoto Ikemoto

  • 1999 04-  Nakamura Dojo 20th Anniversary

  • 1999 06-  Tamatsukuri Dojo opened with Shihan Kenji Sanada as Head Instructor

  • 1999 11-  Shihans Yasuda, Sumitani, and Tagahara entered the 7th WT.

2000 - 2009

  • 2000 06-  Shihan Tagahara placed 1st in the lightweights and Shihan Sumitani placed 2nd in the heavyweights at the 17th JWCC

  • 2001 04-  Shihan Yasuda placed 3rd in the lightweight division at the 18 JWCC

  • 2001 06-  Shihan Tagahara placed 1st in the 2nd WWCC

  • 2001 12-  Sosui Nakamura was invited to the Russian seminar

  • 2002 06-  Shihans Matsuoka and Sumitani placed 3rd in the middleweights and the heavyweights respectively at the 19th JWCC

  • 2002 11-  Shihan Tadakuni Tokuda and Shihan Sumitani placed 4th and 5th respectively in the 34th All-Japan Championships

  • 2003 06-  Shihan Kanamori placed 1st in the middleweights and Shihan Takao placed 4th in the heavyweights at the 20th JWCC

  • 2003 11-  Sosui Nakamura contributed as Head Coach to Team Japan's victory at the 8th WT

  • 2004 06-  Shihans Matsuoka and Ikemoto placed 2nd in the lightweights and the middleweights respectively at the 21st JWCC

  • 2004 09- Nakayamada Dojo opened with Shihan Shinichi Kawasaka. Shihan Matsuoka won the African title.

  • 2004 11- Shihan Tokuda placed 2nd and Shihan Ikemoto placed 7th in the 36th All-Japan Championships

  • 2005 01-  Shihan Akimasa Watanabe opend a new full-time dojo in Hanaten-Tsurumi, Osaka

  • 2005 05-  Shihans Tokuda and Tagahara entered the 3rd WWCC

  • 2005 06- Shihan Matuoka placed 1st in the middleweight division at the 22nd JWCC

  • 2005 11- Shihans Tokuda and Tagahara placed 3rd and 6th respectively in the 37th All-Japan Championships

  • 2006 06- Shihan Sumitani placed 1st in the heavyweight division at the 23rd JWCC

  • 2006 06- Shihan Matasuoka placed 2nd in the middleweight division at the 2rd JWCC

  • 2006 09- Sanda Dojo opened with Shihan Shuji Nakamura as Head Instructor

  • 2006 12- Shihans Kawasaka and Katsuhito Nakagawa entered the Vancouver Cup Karate Championships

  • 2007 02- Banshu Cup (Japan Karate Classic) was held for the first time

  • 2007 06- Shihan Tokuda advanced to the top 4 in the 24th JWCC

  • 2007 11- Shihan Ikemoto advanced to the 3rd round at the 9th WT while Shihan Tokuda advanced to the top 32

  • 2008 06- Shihan Matsuoka placed 2nd in the middleweight and Shihan Kurata placed 4th at the 25th JWCC

  • 2009 06- Shihans Sumitani and Tokuda placed 2nd and 1st respectively at the 26th JWCC

  • 2009 07-  Hannan Dojo opened with Shihan Takeshi Okuda as Head Instructor

  • 2009 08-  Shihan Matsuoka entered the 4th WWCC and placed 2nd in the lightweight division

  • 2009 10- A new full-time dojo opened in Nishinomiya with Shihan Nobuhiro Hokayashiki as Head Instructor

  • 2009 11-  Shihan Sumitani fought in the 41st All-Japan Championships and retired as a fighter

2010 - 2019

  • 2010 01- A full-time dojo opened in Kobe Sannomiya with Shihan Matsuoka as Head Instructor

  • 2010 06-  Shihan Matsuoka placed 3rd in the 27th JWCC

  • 2010 07-  Nakamura Dojo 30th Anniversary

  • 2010 07-  Youth Training Seminar began

  • 2010 10-  Daihyo Masanaga Nakamura placed 1st in the All-Asia Championships

  • 2010 11-  Daihyo Masanaga advanced to the fourth round and received the Spirit Award in the 42nd All-Japan Championships

  • 2011 06-  Daihyo Masanaga and Shihan Matsuoka entered the All-American Championships in New York

  • 2011 11- The 10th WT was held. But for the first time, none of the Nakamura fighters were selected.

  • 2012 02-  Daihyo Masanaga placed 1st in the Middle-East Championships in Iran

  • 2013 06-  Daihyo Masanaga placed 1st in the middleweight at the 30th JWCC

  • 2014 06-  Daihyo Masanaga placed 2nd in the middleweights at the 31st JWCC

  • 2014 06-  Senseis Genki Kamei and Yuya Konishi placed 1st and 3rd respectively in the lightweights at the 31st JWCC

  • 2015 06-  Daihyo Masanaga placed 1st in the light-heavyweight division at the 32nd JWCC

  • 2015 11-  Daihyo Masanaga entered the 11th WT

  • 2016 12-  I.K.O.N. was established (Sosui Makoto Nakamura, Chair / Daihyo Masanaga Nakamura, Director)

  • 2016 12- The Vancouver branch was established (Shihan Tats Nakamura, Head of International Department)

  • 2017 04- The Poland and South African branches were established

  • 2017 06- The Taiwan and Montreal branches were established

  • 2017 07- The Iran branch was established

  • 2017 09- The Russia branch was established

  • 2017 12- The Indonesia branch was established

  • 2017 12- The 1st International Friendship Karate Championships (IFKC) was held in Osaka

  • 2018 01- The Hong Kong and Kazakhstan branches were established

  • 2018 04- The India branch was established

  • 2018 09- The Chile branch was established

  • 2018 11- The USA IL, Singapore, and Tunisia branches were established.

  • 2018 11- The Zimbabwe branch was established (Suspended as of Jan 2025)

  • 2018 12- The 2nd IFKC was held

  • 2019 03- The Greece and Sri Lanka branches were established

  • 2019 04- The China branch was established

  • 2018 08- The 1st Kyokushin Grand-Prix and All-Japan Championships were held in Osaka

  • 2019 12-  The South Korea, Germany, Algeria, United Kingdom, and Romania branches were established

  • 2019 12-  The 3rd IFKC was held

2020 -

  • 2020 07-  The Iraq, France, and Lebanon branches were established

  • 2020 08-  The Morocco branch was established

  • 2020 09-  The Mauritius branch was established

  • 2020 11-  The Kuwait branch was established

  • 2020 12-  The Yokohama-Kawasaki branch was established

  • 2021 01-  The Philippines branch was established

  • 2021 04-  The Isarael branch was established

  • 2021 05-  The Bolivia branch was established

  • 2021 07-  The Tokyo-Adachi branch was established

  • 2021 07-  The 2nd Kyokushin Grand-Prix and All-Japan Championships were held in Osaka

  • 2021 09-  The Ukraine branch was established

  • 2021 10-  The Saitama-Kawaguchi branch was established

  • 2022 04-  The Spain branch was established

  • 2022 05- The Italy branch was established (but left in 2024)

  • 2022 05- The Shonan branch was established

  • 2022 07- The Malaysia branch was established (closed in 2024 as the branch chief deceased)

  • 2022 07- The 3rd Kyokushin Grand-Prix and All-Japan Championships were held in Osaka

  • 2022 11-  The 3rd IFKC was held

  • 2023 06-  The USA NC branch was established

  • 2023 07-  The 1st I.K.O.N. European Championships was held in Poland

  • 2023 08-  The 4th Kyokushin Grand-Prix and All-Japan Championships were held in Osaka

  • 2023 11-  The Polish Open 2023 was held

  • 2023 12-  The 4th IFKC was held

  • 2024 01-  The Shinki branch was established

  • 2024 04-  The Australia branch was established

  • 2024 04-  The 1st I.K.O.N. All Asia Championships was held in Taiwan 

  • 2024 06-  The Brazil branch was established

  • 2024 06-  The 2nd I.K.O.N. European Championships was held in Poland

  • 2024 06-  The 1st I.K.O.N. North American Championships was held in Montreal, Canada

  • 2024 07-  The 1st I.K.O.N. All-African Championships was held in South Africa

  • 2024 07-  The 5th Kyokushin Grand-Prix and All-Japan Championships were held in Osaka

  • 2024 08-  The 1st I.K.O.N. South American Championships was held in Chile

  • 2024 09-  The 5th IFKC and the 1st I.K.O.N. World Tournament were held in Osaka

  • 2024 10-  The Polish Open 2024 was held

  • 2024 11-  Shihan Satoru Kobayashi was appointed the Chair of the Japanese Branch Chief Committee
