
World Tournament Terms and Conditions
Release of Liability
Organization's Name: International Karate Organization Nakamura and its directors, officers, employees, instructors, guides, agents, representatives, independent contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, sponsors, successors and assigns (all of whom are hereinafter referred to as “the I.K.O.N.”)
Karate Activity: The 1st I.K.O.N. World Tournament (to be referred to as “TOURNAMENT” in this document)
DEFINITION
In this Release Agreement, the term “TOURNAMENT” shall include all activities, Karate matches, events or services provided, arranged, organized, conducted, sponsored or authorized by the I.K.O.N. as mentioned above and shall include, but is not limited to: running; jumping; climbing; physical contact; throwing, passing, hitting or kicking of an object; rental of Equipment; instructional courses, seminars and sessions; travel, transport and accommodation; and other such activities, events and services in any way connected with or related to TOURNAMENT.
SAFETY
I have been advised to wear all protective equipment that is required by the rules and regulations of the governing body for my TOURNAMENT. I am aware that the physical exertion required for TOURNAMENT and the forces exerted on the body can activate or aggravate pre-existing physical injuries, conditions, symptoms or congenital defects. I have been advised to seek medical advice if I know or suspect that my physical condition may be incompatible with TOURNAMENT.
ASSUMPTION OF RISKS
I am aware of the risks, dangers and hazards associated with TOURNAMENT and I freely accept and fully assume all such risks, dangers, hazards and the possibility of personal injury, death, property damage or loss resulting therefrom.
RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT
In consideration of the I.K.O.N. agreeing to my participation in TOURNAMENT and permitting my use of their services, equipment and other facilities, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is acknowledged, I hereby agree as follows;

TO WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS that I have or may in the future have against the I.K.O.N. and to release the I.K.O.N. from any and all liability for any loss, damage, expense or injury, including death, that I may suffer or that my next of kin may suffer, as a result of my participation in TOURNAMENT.

TO HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY THE I.K.O.N. for any and all liability for any property damage, loss or personal injury to any third party resulting from my participation in TOURNAMENT.

This Release Agreement shall be effective and binding upon my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, assigns and representatives, in the event of my death or incapacity;

This Release Agreement and any rights, duties and obligations as between the parties to this Release Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted solely in accordance with the laws of the province or territory where the TOURNAMENT takes place and no other jurisdiction; and
-
Any litigation involving the parties to this Release Agreement shall be brought solely within the province or territory where the TOURNAMENT takes place and shall be within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of that province or territory.
Tournament Format and Match Settings
I will comply with the Tournament Format and Match Settings set forth by the I.K.O.N., and act in accordance with the Kyokushin Karate rules and etiquette of Kyokushin Karate students in TOURNAMENT.
Photo and Video Release
I hereby authorize the I.K.O.N. to use the image of me taken during TOURNAMENT in its public relations and communication materials to promote TOURNAMENT, the I.K.O.N. and Kyokushin Karate as a whole.
Penalty for Withdrawal
I understand that I will be given a penalty imposed by the I.K.O.N. in case I decide to withdraw from TOURNAMENT within two months before the event date. The penalties are US$500 and a ban from the next World Tournament sanctioned by the I.K.O.N. I’m fully aware that they will be imposed regardless of the reasons for withdrawal. >> More details
5-KG Weigh-in Rule
I will comply with the 5-KG weigh-in rule if my actual weight at the weigh-in on September 27 exceeds my registered weight by more than 5 kilograms. I’ll have to weigh in again on September 29. If my weight still cannot clear at the second attempt. I will be given one full penalty “Genten 1” at the beginning of my first match.
Competitor's Selection Process
I understand that submitting my registration does not guarantee that I will be automatically accepted to compete in TOURNAMENT. When the I.K.O.N. receives a larger number of registrations than the number of spots available for competitors (16 females and 32 males), the I.K.O.N. is to select the competitors based on the criteria listed here. The I.K.O.N. is scheduled to launch the selection process on May 11 and to announce the selected competitors by May 30.
Payment for Entry Fee
I agree to forward US$150 to my branch representative when I am selected. Then, my branch representative will forward the amount to the I.K.O.N. by September 28.
