2026 World Weight Category Championships Terms and Conditions

before submiting your

Release of Liability

Organization's Name: International Karate Organization Nakamura and its directors, officers, employees, instructors, guides, agents, representatives, independent contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, sponsors, successors and assigns (all of whom are hereinafter referred to as “the I.K.O.N.”)

Karate Activity: The 2026 World Weight Category Championships (to be referred to as “TOURNAMENT” in this document)

DEFINITION
In this Release Agreement, the term “TOURNAMENT” shall include all activities, Karate matches, events or services provided, arranged, organized, conducted, sponsored or authorized by the I.K.O.N. as mentioned above and shall include, but is not limited to: running; jumping; climbing; physical contact; throwing, passing, hitting or kicking of an object; rental of Equipment; instructional courses, seminars and sessions; travel, transport and accommodation; and other such activities, events and services in any way connected with or related to TOURNAMENT.

​SAFETY
I have been advised to wear all protective equipment that is required by the rules and regulations of the governing body for my TOURNAMENT. I am aware that the physical exertion required for TOURNAMENT and the forces exerted on the body can activate or aggravate pre-existing physical injuries, conditions, symptoms or congenital defects. I have been advised to seek medical advice if I know or suspect that my physical condition may be incompatible with TOURNAMENT.

ASSUMPTION OF RISKS
I am aware of the risks, dangers and hazards associated with TOURNAMENT and I freely accept and fully assume all such risks, dangers, hazards and the possibility of personal injury, death, property damage or loss resulting therefrom.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT
In consideration of the I.K.O.N. agreeing to my participation in TOURNAMENT and permitting my use of their services, equipment and other facilities, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is acknowledged, I hereby agree as follows;

  1. TO WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS that I have or may in the future have against the I.K.O.N. and to release the I.K.O.N. from any and all liability for any loss, damage, expense or injury, including death, that I may suffer or that my next of kin may suffer, as a result of my participation in TOURNAMENT.

  2. TO HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY THE I.K.O.N. for any and all liability for any property damage, loss or personal injury to any third party resulting from my participation in TOURNAMENT.

  3. This Release Agreement shall be effective and binding upon my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, assigns and representatives, in the event of my death or incapacity;

  4. This Release Agreement and any rights, duties and obligations as between the parties to this Release Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted solely in accordance with the laws of the province or territory where the TOURNAMENT takes place and no other jurisdiction; and

  5. Any litigation involving the parties to this Release Agreement shall be brought solely within the province or territory where the TOURNAMENT takes place and shall be within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of that province or territory.

Tournament Format and Match Settings


I will comply with the Tournament Format and Match Settings set forth by the I.K.O.N., and act in accordance with the Kyokushin Karate rules and etiquette of Kyokushin Karate students in TOURNAMENT.

Photo and Video Release


I hereby authorize the I.K.O.N. to use the image of me taken during TOURNAMENT in its public relations and communication materials to promote TOURNAMENT, the I.K.O.N. and Kyokushin Karate as a whole.

Penalty for Withdrawal
 

I understand that I will be given a penalty imposed by the I.K.O.N. in case I decide to withdraw from TOURNAMENT within two months before the event date. The penalties are US$500 and a ban from the next World Tournament sanctioned by the I.K.O.N. I’m fully aware that they will be imposed regardless of the reasons for withdrawal. >> More details

Weigh-in Rule

Weight Categories

  • Women's Lightweight: -53 kg (52.9 kg and lighter)

  • Women's Middleweight: -63 kg (62.9 kg and lighter)

  • Women's Heavyweight: 63+ kg (63 kg and heavier)

  • Men's Lightweight: -70 kg (69.9 kg and lighter)

  • Men's Middleweight: -80 kg (79.9 kg and lighter)

  • Men's Heavyweight: 80+ kg (80 kg and heavier)

I will comply with the following weigh-in rules.

 

Weigh-in Rule

  • The official weigh-in will be conducted on the morning of the tournament day (December 13).

  • Weight Limit Exceeding by less than 3 kg: If a competitor exceeds the weight limit by less than 3 kg at the weigh-in, they will be given one full penalty "Genten 1" at the beginning of their first matches.

  • Weight Limit Exceeding by more than 3 kg: If a competitor exceeds the weight limit by more than 3 kg at the weigh-in, they will be disqualified.

  • 5 kg-Rule: If a competitor exceeds their registered weight by more than 5 kg at the weigh-in, they will be given one full penalty "Genten 1" at the beginning of their first matches.

Competitor's Selection Process

I understand that submitting my registration does not guarantee that I will be automatically accepted to compete in TOURNAMENT. When the I.K.O.N. receives a larger number of registrations than the number of spots available for competitors (8 competitors in each weight category), the I.K.O.N. is to select the competitors based on the criteria listed here.

 

The I.K.O.N. is scheduled to launch the selection process two times.

  • April 26 - May 12 (Invitation sent to selected competitors: May 13-May 31)

  • July 26 - August 4 (Invitation sent to selected competitors: August 4-August 31)

Payment for Entry Fee

I agree to forward US$150 to my team representative when I am selected. Then, my team representative will forward the amount to the I.K.O.N. by December 11.

Anti-Doping Declaration

I hereby declare that I have not used, and will not use, any performance-enhancing or muscle-enhancing substances, including but not limited to anabolic steroids, that are prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

I acknowledge and agree to comply fully with all anti-doping regulations. I understand that the I.K.O.N. may conduct doping control testing at any time during TOURNAMENT and I agree to fully cooperate with any such testing procedures.

Health and Communicable Disease Declaration

I hereby declare that, to the best of my knowledge, I am in good health and do not have any communicable illness or condition that may pose a risk to other participants, officials, or attendees.

I agree to comply with all health and safety requirements established by I.K.O.N. for TOURNAMENT. I understand that I may be required to undergo medical screening or provide relevant health information where reasonably necessary to ensure the safety of the event, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

2026 WWCC Entry Form

The 2026 World Weight Category Championships on December 13

  • First Round of Registration: April 3 to April 25

  • Submit by April 25 (No Exception)

  • Entry Fees

    - Kumite: US$150.00

  • Payment Methods:

    Cash Payment: You may pay your entry fee in cash directly to the event host, I.K.O.N. Honbu, on December 11. An invoice will be sent to your team representative in November. Please prepare the exact amount in cash, as change may not be available.

    Bank Wire Transfer: After receiving the invoice from us, you may choose to have your team representative pay your entry fee via bank wire transfer. The Honbu’s bank account information will be included in the invoice. We strongly recommend this method to avoid any hassle on the day of the event.

Honbu is aware of the concerns related to transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. At this time, we will continue with the traditional approach while we work toward reaching a thoughtful consensus on the matter among our Japanese and international representatives.

Warning! Honbu implements a 5-kg rule. If your actual weight turns out to be 5 kg heavier or more than your declared weight on this entry form, you will be subject to the weigh-in penalty in which "Genten 1" will be given at the beginning of your first match. This rule applies to ALL competitors including ones in the heavyweight divisions.
