The JAPAN KARATE CLASSIC 2026 saw a record 943 competitors, the largest number of participants in the history of the tournament.
At the opening ceremony, Shihan Akimasa Watanabe (Naniwa Central Branch) delivered the opening address.
The 2025 Grand Slam & Triple Crown Award Ceremony was also held, honoring 2 Grand Slam recipients.
In addition, Sota Miyaoka (Kitajima Dojo), who received the Grand Slam, was presented with an invitation by Daihyo Masanaga Nakamura granting him eligibility to compete in The 1st World Weight Category Karate Championship Tournament, scheduled for December 13.
The athlete’s oath was delivered by Mayuto Ishida (Shinki Branch), the 2025 Grand Slam winner, who gave a confident declaration despite being only a first-year competitor, officially signaling the start of the battles. More photos>> I.K.O.N. Facebook
